Durban North at a glance

Durban North is situated just north of Durban, and lies between the N2 freeway with the Umgeni River. It is central and convenient to both the Durban CBD and beach front and the greater Umhlanga area, making it highly sought after for property sales and rentals.

Durban North is an upmarket, well established area, offering a wonderful environment for families to call home. There are many excellent schools in the area as well as sporting facilities.

There are many beaches along this stretch of coastline, including the popular VB’s with its trendy snack and coffee bar. Youngsters enjoy body surfing and skim boarding.

The Japanese Gardens is the back yard for many to enjoy a picnic over the weekend, and provides a platform for families to engage in family games and fun.

The unique village atmosphere in and around Broadway, (now Swapo Road), meets all the local’s daily shopping needs, with chemists, food stores, such as the Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket by the Sea, as well other large retail names such as Checkers and Spar and of course your local Woolworths.

With Dentists, Doctors, and many other health care practitioners being plentiful in the area, it is a very convenient area in which to live.

The village is also home to many excellent eateries, from fine dining restaurants to small takeaways, offering a variety of taste sensations to satisfy even the most discerning palate.

And, as if that was not enough, there is also a superb Golf Course on our door step, which is set in the most spectacular setting, running along the coastline, namely the Durban Country Cub, Beechwood Golf Course.

Briardene, Red Hill and Glen Anil are its main industrial areas. Its residential suburbs include Glen Anil, Glen Ashley, Glen Hills, Virginia, Durban North, Park Hill, Umgeni Park, Avoca, Kenville and Sea Cow Lake. The Ruth First Highway (M4) connects Durban North to the city and Umhlanga Rocks. Virginia Airport is situated along the northern shoreline. Durban North's beaches, including Beachwood, Virginia and Glenashley beaches, stretch from the Umgeni River mouth to the suburb of Glenashley.
