BRAND NEW RETAIL DEVELOPMENT IN SPRINGFIELD PARK

Brilliantly located on a prominent site just off the N2 highway between Durban and Umhlanga, the Umgeni Deco & Lifestyle Park is set to become KZN's premier showcase for upmarket home improvement companies and luxury vehicle dealerships.

These could include companies trading in building and DIY supplies, appliances, electronics, furniture, bathroom fittings and accessories, tiles, flooring, lighting, blinds and curtains, outdoor lifestyle equipment and furniture, kitchens and kitchenware and, of course, high-end vehicles. It would also be an attractive and central location for a call centre, storage company or mini-warehousing complex.

The developers want the park to have a mix of synergistic tenants that add value to the park and each others trading potential, so that it becomes the single best destination for consumers in KZN to source dcor, lifestyle and related products or services. Radford says tenants of the Umgeni Deco & Lifestyle Park will also be supported with high-spec infrastructure and a comprehensive framework of services while trading within a highly secure, landscaped, eco-friendly environment that is attractive to customers and offers plenty of parking.

The park will also be highly visible and extremely accessible. The site is situated just east of the N2 highway where it crosses the Mgeni River, in the burgeoning Umgeni Precinct, which is already ready home to some of the most prominent retail and commercial users in the greater Durban area. The recently-upgraded N2/ M19(Umgeni Road) interchange is adjacent to the site and will facilitate customer access, as will the new commuter rail station that has been planned for this precinct and will include a modern facility for taxi passengers.

She notes that the Umgeni Deco & Lifestyle Park site is the last centrally-located, undeveloped piece of land of this size in Durban. It is only 10km from the Port of Durban and only 25km from King Shaka International and the Dube Tradeport which makes it very convenient for companies bringing in freight from overseas or shipping goods to other parts of the country.

This development thus represents an exceptional opportunity for companies in the lifestyle and home improvement sectors to establish new branches or headquarters in purpose-built premises and we are already in negotiations with several potential tenants.

The developers will be breaking ground on the project in June and the expected completion date is June 2018.
