Golden Hours Family Market

The Golden Hours Family Market is a market with a difference in that it is held to raise funds for the Golden Hours School for Special Needs Children. Situated in Uitsig Road in Durban North (a block away from the Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket), the market is held under mango trees and includes a number of craft and commercial traders, an adventure playground for children and safe, off-road parking.

Breakfast and roast lunch stalls are available, as is a large second hand book stall. The North Durban Lions are on hand to provide popcorn and candyfloss! Other activities to keep the children entertained include  tractor and train rides, quad bikes, a mini wheel and on occasion, pony rides.

Visit the Japanese Gardens in Durban

The Umgeni River Bird Park is one of the greatest attractions of the city. Walk-through aviaries, birds out on perches, wonderful green vegetation, some amazing waterfalls and rock faces all combine to make this a very special place to visit.

Free flight Bird Show: The first in Africa, with critically endangered species like the Wattled Crane, as well as owls, storks, hornbills and a Cape Vulture in free unrestricted flight - Highly educational and loads of fun. Featuring a cast of birds from North and South America, Africa, Indonesia and Australia, the emphasis is on conservation and education. You will be able to get up close and personal with owls, cranes, hornbills, macaws, kookaburras, toucans, vultures and many other species as they demonstrate what they would normally do in the wild in totally unrestricted free flight. No visit to the park is complete without watching the show.

Durban Food Market

Held at the Hellenic Club, the award winning Durban food market has been going for just two years and is a 'must do' for foodies of all ages.

Organic produce, goats cheese, wild meats, home baked cakes, fudge, biscuits, jams, breads, flowers and even oysters can be had. Outside you can check out the wormery and organic garden suppliers too. Cooked food and bar service also available and tables provided to enjoy on site.
